Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport is an international airport located at Palembang, the capital of South Sumatera, one of province in Indonesia. It is in region KM 10 Sukarame District.
At first, the airport was in Talang Betutu with name Palembang P1 for military interest. On August 21, 1975, it change the name with Talang Betutu Civil Airport. On April 3, 1985, the name changed again with Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport (not international yet). In 2004, the local government enlarge the capacity and the status became international airport, inaugurated on September 27, 2005.

When you come to the airport, firstable you will arrived at Departures Area and then if you go ahead, you will find Arrival Area.
Now it has enlarge the runway long from 300 meters x 60 meters to 3000 meters x 60 meters. Parking area itself developed to 20.000 meters with 1000 car can fit in. As you can see the picture below, it has Ampera Bridge miniature, the hallmark of Palembang.

It also has 13.000 square meters for three floor terminal, can accommodate 1.250 passangers, and also support for wide body aircraft or Airbus A330.

On 2018, Palembang will host Asian Games with Jakarta. That is why the goverment now makes Palembang Light Rail Transit which connect airport to Jakabaring, which Asian Games held. Prediction said that maybe LRT will run in June 2018.
